Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis (commonly called B. infantis) is the premier human milk oligosaccharide (HMO)-utilizing bacterium and the dominant species in the breastfed infant gut. It drives immune maturation, Treg induction, and pathogen exclusion in early life.
