Barnesella is a genus of obligate anaerobic, Gram-negative bacteria in the phylum Bacteroidetes. It is a relatively understudied gut commensal that appears in the WikiBiome vault primarily in the context of endometriosis microbiome studies, where it is part of the complex microbial community shifts observed across vaginal, cervical, and fecal samples.
Endometriosis Associations
Identified in the vaginal/cervical microbiome of endometriosis patients as part of the altered community composition [1][2][3].
